The Chinese Smartphone giant OnePlus is now planning to start its smart phone manufacturing services in India. Recently, in October’ 2015 it announced that it is planning the local production of its smart phones in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri City at the Foxconn Rising Stars Factory by the end of December’ 2015. Foxconn was in news earlier as the companies including Gionee, Xiaomi and Asus announced their plans for assembling their phones in India at Foxconn.
The upcoming devices of OnePlus will start before the end of 2015 in the OnePlus’s 30,000 sq feet facility, and this facility will support the cumulative peak production capacity of around 500, 000 units per month and will also generate the direct employment for more than 1000 workers on the full-time basis. The company spokesperson also added that the first batch of the India made phones would also be made available to the customers before the end of this year.
The CEO and Founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau announced that this move will help the organization to step up the momentum in India for the firm and give support to the Make in India initiative launched by the government.
Lau also mentioned that producing the smart phones in India is amongst one of the most imperative decisions that the company has taken so far at OnePlus while conveying his thankfulness for the Foxconn and the government of Andhra Pradesh to make this happen. He said that India is one of the biggest markets of the OnePlus across the globe and we are committed towards a long term sustainable growth path. This move by the company will help it step up its momentum in India while strengthening the presence of the company in the country.
The OnePlus’s GM – India, Vikas Agarwal said that the local production of the smart phones will help the company solve its supply chain issues and will help the organization make its operations more efficient. This will also help the company to make its devices available for sale much faster.
During the press conference, Lau also shared about the sales performance of its OnePlus 2 units in the open sale on Amazon that held on Monday.
