ViitorCloud helped Calenso build appointment booking software with a customizable smart widget, encrypted-data search, and calendar and payment integrations that let small and medium businesses run online booking on their own terms.
Calenso is appointment scheduling software for small and medium businesses across insurance, real estate, and eGovernment. Partner companies register, buy subscriptions, and add workers, services, stores, and resources, then workers manage availability and share booking links with customers. The product already worked, but three gaps stood between it and the experience its partners expected.
First, the booking widget could not match each partner's website. A widget that looks bolted on undermines trust at the exact moment a customer decides whether to book. Second, the calendar stored customer data in encrypted form, which made it hard to do something as basic as searching for a customer by first or last name. Third, onboarding new partners was longer than it needed to be, which slowed the path from sign-up to first booking.
The goal was a Smart Widget partners could style to their own theme, a text search that worked over encrypted data, and a compact widget with a shorter onboarding flow. Without these, Calenso risked losing SMB customers to online booking software that felt more native and easier to adopt.
ViitorCloud's engineers approached this as focused product engineering on a live platform, building around a few deliberate decisions rather than a generic redesign.
A Smart Widget with customizable CSS: We built a booking widget with adaptable CSS so each partner company can align it with their own website theme, making the booking experience feel native rather than embedded from outside.
Text search over encrypted data: We added a filter for Calenso's calendar that supports free-text search across encrypted fields, so users can find customers by first or last name without weakening how that data is stored.
A compact widget and six-step onboarding: We designed a sleek, compact UI and a structured six-step onboarding process that guides new partners from sign-up to a working setup quickly.
Calendar, meeting, and payment integrations: We integrated external calendars including Google Calendar, Office365, MS Exchange, and iCloud, meeting providers such as Zoom, MS Teams, and GoTo Meeting, and payment gateways including Stripe, Saferpay, PayPal, and LexOffice, so scheduling, meetings, and payment all live in one flow.
The honest difficulty. Searching encrypted data is a genuine tension: encryption is meant to make stored values unreadable, yet partners needed to look up customers by name. Most of the engineering care went into building a search and filter layer that returns the right records without undoing the protection on the underlying fields. Treating that as a simple feature, rather than a careful design problem, would have traded customer privacy for convenience.
What the Calenso platform gives the business:
A branded booking experience: The customizable Smart Widget lets partners present scheduling that matches their own site, which protects the brand at the point of conversion.
Faster time to first booking: A compact widget and a six-step onboarding process shorten the path from sign-up to a partner taking real appointments.
One connected workflow: Calendar, meeting, and payment integrations keep scheduling, video meetings, and collection together instead of spreading across disconnected tools.
Search without sacrificing privacy: Free-text search over encrypted data gives staff quick lookups while keeping customer information encrypted at rest.
What the platform delivers:
A customizable Smart Widget: that partner companies can style to their own website theme, so booking feels part of their brand.
A six-step onboarding flow and compact widget: that shorten the setup path for new partners and simplify booking for their customers.
Calendar, meeting, and payment integrations: across Google Calendar, Office365, MS Exchange, iCloud, Zoom, MS Teams, GoTo Meeting, Stripe, Saferpay, PayPal, and LexOffice.
Free-text search over encrypted customer data,: so staff can find customers by name without exposing how that data is stored.
By making the booking widget customizable, the onboarding shorter, and the calendar searchable without weakening encryption, Calenso turned a working scheduler into appointment booking software that small and medium businesses can adopt as their own. The work shows how careful product engineering on a live platform improves efficiency and customer experience at the same time.
If your scheduling product needs to feel native to every customer and still hold up on privacy, that is an engineering problem worth getting right. Talk to the ViitorCloud team about your roadmap or see how we approach SaaS product engineering.
